What Voca Fun is
Voca Fun is a vocabulary learning service. It offers short learning activities, word banks you make, study packs, a world map that grows with your XP, and ways to learn with others: buddies, classes, duels and party rooms. Some features are part of Voca Fun Pro, a paid subscription.
Who can use Voca Fun
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- If you're under 16, or under the age where you live at which you can accept these Terms on your own, you may use Voca Fun only with a parent's or guardian's permission. They accept these Terms for you and are responsible for your use.
- You must not be barred from using Voca Fun under the laws that apply to you.
Accounts and guests
- Guests can use many activities, join rooms with a name and avatar, and buy Pro. Guest progress stays only on that device and can be lost.
- Accounts: give a real email address you can use, keep your password safe, and don't share your account. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at hello@vocafun.com if you think someone else is using it.
- Your name and avatar must follow the community rules below and must not pretend to be someone else.
Community rules: zero tolerance
Other learners see names, avatars, class names, notes, tasks and word lists in Voca Fun. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You must not:
- use names, avatars, class names, notes, tasks, word banks or report notes that are offensive, hateful, sexual, violent, threatening, discriminatory or illegal;
- bully, harass, threaten or intimidate anyone, or try to reach someone who blocked you some other way;
- pretend to be another person, or to be part of the Voca Fun team;
- share anyone's personal information, including your own phone number, address or social media accounts, in names, notes or word lists;
- send spam, advertise, run scams, or ask other learners for money;
- cheat: change XP, scores, streaks, boards or class results with bots, scripts, modified apps or bugs;
- get into accounts or data that aren't yours, overload or disrupt Voca Fun, collect information from it by automated means, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows;
- use Voca Fun to break the law or anyone's rights.
Filtering, reporting and blocking: names that other learners read are checked automatically, and offensive ones are refused. You can report a class or a learner wherever you meet them: in a class, your buddies, a land visit, a challenge or a room (guests can report from a room). With an account you can also block people so they can't reach you (see them in Profile → Blocked people). You can also write to hello@vocafun.com. Reports go only to us. We review every report and aim to act within 24 hours: we remove content that breaks these rules and remove the learner who posted it.
If you break these rules we may, with or without notice, remove or rename content, remove you from classes or rooms, and suspend or close your account.
Classes, buddies and rooms
- Classes are opened by Pro members, who act as the class host. Members join with the class code and password. Hosts can set tasks, notes and goals, see members' progress as described in the Privacy Policy, and remove and block members. If the host's Pro ends, the class pauses until it's renewed.
- Hosts are responsible for what they put in their classes and for sharing the code and password only with people they mean to invite. A host who invites younger learners must have their parents' or guardians' permission where the law requires it. Hosts are learners like everyone else, not our staff; we don't supervise classes.
- Class passwords can be seen and shared by the host, so never use a password you use anywhere else.
- Buddies add each other with a buddy code or invite link, and either can remove the other.
- Duels and party rooms: what you show in a room, such as your name, avatar and score, is seen by everyone in it. A room's host can remove someone from the lobby, and they can't come back into that room.
Your content
"Your content" is what you create in Voca Fun: your name, word banks, class names, notes and tasks, and report notes. You keep ownership of it. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, show and share it as needed to run Voca Fun (for example, showing your word bank's words to your class or room) for as long as it's in Voca Fun, and for a limited time afterwards in backups.
You confirm that you have the right to use your content and that it follows these Terms; for example, don't copy whole dictionaries or published word lists you don't have rights to. Apart from the automatic name check, we don't review content before it appears, aren't responsible for content other learners create, and may remove content that breaks these Terms or the law.
Voca Fun Pro subscriptions
- What it is: Pro is an optional, auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly, sold in the iOS and Android apps through the Apple App Store or Google Play. It currently includes study packs, hosting classes, larger party rooms, a bigger buddy list, Pro avatars and borders, and no ads. The app shows what's included before you buy.
- Account: you don't need a Voca Fun account to buy Pro in the iOS and Android apps. Bought as a guest, Pro works on that device straight away (study packs, larger party rooms, Pro avatars and no ads); hosting classes, buddies and borders need an account. Sign in or create an account on that device and Pro moves to your account, so it works on every device where you sign in, including the web app. If you delete the app or lose the device before that, use Restore purchases with the same Apple or Google account. Pro can't be bought on the web for now.
- Payment: the price is shown in the store before you buy, in your currency and including any taxes the store collects. Payment is charged to your Apple Account or Google account when you confirm the purchase.
- Auto-renewal: your subscription renews automatically for the same length at the price then in effect, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Free trial: when a trial is offered (for example, 7 days on the yearly plan), it becomes a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- Manage or cancel: on iPhone, in Settings → your name → Subscriptions; on Android, in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions; or through Manage subscription in the app. Deleting the app or your Voca Fun account doesn't cancel a subscription. After you cancel, Pro lasts until the end of the period you paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies; we can't issue store refunds ourselves. Nothing in these Terms limits refund rights you have under the law.
- Price changes follow the store's rules, including notice and, where required, your agreement.
- Changes to Pro: we may change what Pro includes. If we remove a major part of Pro, we'll tell you in advance so you can cancel before your next renewal.
The free version and ads
The free version of the iOS and Android apps shows ads, including ads you choose to watch for bonus XP or for a hint. Ads come from Google and its partners; we don't endorse what they advertise, and anything you do with an advertiser is between you and them. Don't tap ads dishonestly or use tools to collect rewards. See the Privacy Policy for your ad choices.
XP, streaks and other progress
XP, streaks, stars, lands, avatars, borders and bonus XP are part of the service, not property. They have no money value and can't be sold, transferred or exchanged for money. We may correct them, for example to fix mistakes or undo cheating. They end when your account is deleted.
Learning content
We work hard on Voca Fun's word lists, meanings, examples, pronunciations and pictures, but they may contain mistakes. They're provided for learning, aren't official exam material, and don't guarantee any result such as passing an exam.
HSK, TOPIK, DELF, IELTS, TOEIC, TOEFL and SAT are trademarks of their owners. Voca Fun isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by them; the names only describe the level a study pack aims at.
Our rights and your licence
Voca Fun, including its name, logo, Stella, pictures, software, word lists and study packs, belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use Voca Fun for learning, including helping others learn through its features such as classes. Don't copy, extract, sell or redistribute Voca Fun or its content, for example by exporting study packs.
Other companies' services
Voca Fun relies on services from Apple, Google (Google Play and AdMob), RevenueCat, Supabase and Cloudflare, and their own terms may also apply to you. We're not responsible for their services or for websites that ads or links lead to.
Changes and availability
We keep improving Voca Fun and may add, change or remove features. Many features need an internet connection, and we can't promise Voca Fun will always be available or free of errors. If we decide to close Voca Fun for good, we'll tell you at least 30 days in advance and stop selling and renewing Pro.
Ending
You can stop using Voca Fun at any time and delete your account in Profile → Delete account. We may suspend or close your account if you break these Terms, if your use creates a risk for other learners or for Voca Fun, or if the law requires it. Where it's reasonable we'll tell you first and why. A suspension doesn't by itself entitle you to a refund; refunds follow the store's policies and the law. The sections on your content, progress, our rights, disclaimers, liability and the law that applies continue after these Terms end.
Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, Voca Fun is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose. Some places don't allow these exclusions, so they may not all apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim about Voca Fun is limited to the greater of what you paid for Pro in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or rights you have as a consumer that can't be changed by contract.
Your responsibility for misuse
If you break these Terms or the law, or infringe someone's rights, and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses from that claim, to the extent the law allows.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you live elsewhere, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country.
If you have a problem, please write to us first at hello@vocafun.com; most things can be sorted out quickly. If we can't settle it within 30 days, either of us may take it to the competent courts of Vietnam, or to the courts where you live if your consumer laws give you that right.
App Store and Google Play
If you got Voca Fun from Apple's App Store
- These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Voca Fun or its content.
- Your licence for the iOS app is limited to Apple-branded products you own or control, as allowed by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, including Family Sharing where it applies. Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula) also applies; where it conflicts with these Terms about that licence, Apple's agreement applies.
- Apple has no duty to provide maintenance or support for Voca Fun.
- If Voca Fun fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund what you paid for the app, if anything. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for handling claims about Voca Fun, including product liability claims, claims that it doesn't meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection and privacy claims, and claims that it infringes someone's intellectual property.
- You confirm that you're not in a country under a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you're not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use Voca Fun, such as your mobile data plan.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
If you got Voca Fun from Google Play
Your download and purchases are also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. Google isn't responsible for Voca Fun or its support.
General
- These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the store's terms for your purchases are the whole agreement between you and us about Voca Fun.
- If part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a part right away, we don't give up our right to do so later.
- You can't transfer these Terms to someone else. We may transfer them to whoever takes over Voca Fun, and we'll tell you if that happens.
- These Terms are available in English and Vietnamese. If the two differ, the English version applies, unless the law where you live requires the version in your language to apply.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We'll change the date at the top, and for important changes we'll tell you in the app before they apply. If you keep using Voca Fun after the changes apply, the new Terms apply to you; if you don't agree, stop using Voca Fun and delete your account.
